Harraden�s Habitat is a magical place that most people only dream about. Ernie and Lisa Harraden are living out their fantasy surrounded by the animals they love and sharing this love with everyone who visits their golden spot in eastern North Carolina.
The Habitat is mainly an avian breeding facility specializing in many different species of lories and lorikeets, and some cockatoos, amazons and macaws. Our babies are sold at wholesale prices, when available, and shipped statewide by U S Air planes.
The many different babies are handfed in a loving home environment until they are ready for adoption. We insist on babies being down to at least one handfeeding a day before leaving the home. All birds leaving Harraden�s Habitat are guaranteed to be healthy and each baby travels with his own health and hatch certificate. Babies can be DNA sexed here for an additional $30.
We are also the founders of the Coastal Carolina Bird Society with members covering the United States from the east coast of North Carolina to the Pacific shoreline, and from the Great Lakes region all the way to the Florida Keys. The annual membership dues pays the postage on monthly newsletters full of interesting stories, current listings of birds wanted and for sale, puzzles, jokes, and a letter spelling out the club events from the previous month. All the Coastal Carolina Bird Shows are listed and advertised in the newsletter well in advance of the events' date. The shows are also listed in Bird Talk Magazine and everyone is welcome.
